Alex Halberstadt (born in 1970 in Moscow) is an American writer, noted in particular for his biography of Doc Pomus.〔http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/25/books/review/Light.t.html〕 He came to the United States as a child in 1980. He graduated from noted New York public school Stuyvesant High School, then graduated from Oberlin College in 1992. For some time he worked at NYANA, a refugee resettlement agency in New York City (his co-workers there included Todd Solondz, Gary Shteyngart, Alexander Gelman and Roman Turovsky). Alex Halberstadt’s writings have appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, GQ, Los Angeles Times, The New Yorker, Salon, the Oxford American, and elsewhere.
